Unicom Tranzit Becomes the First Romanian Operator to Introduce Siemens Smartron Locomotives

Unicom Tranzit is proud to announce the arrival of the first two Siemens Smartron locomotives in Romania, making us the first railway operator in the country to integrate these advanced units into our fleet. The locomotives arrived recently at Curtici and will be transferred to our Fetești workshop, where they will receive Unicom Tranzit’s livery and branding.

This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation and operational excellence. The Siemens Smartron is a bi-system locomotive, compatible with both 27 kV and 15 kV electrification. It also supports multiple-unit operation with up to six locomotives controlled by a single driver and features advanced real-time diagnostic software connected directly to Siemens’ central monitoring system.

This acquisition underscores Unicom Tranzit’s commitment to innovation, reliability, and efficiency as we continue to enhance our intermodal transport capabilities in Romania and beyond.
