Honoring Professor Cătălin Crucianu – A Visionary in Railway Engineering

One of our locomotives proudly carries the name of Professor Cătălin Crucianu, a true pioneer in the field of railway engineering and a mentor for generations of specialists in Romania.

Professor Crucianu dedicated his life to advancing railway technology and educating young engineers, leaving a legacy of innovation, knowledge, and passion for the railway sector. He was well-known for his openness to new ideas and his ability to make complex systems understandable through clear explanations and diagrams.

As his students fondly recall: “Professor Crucianu was always open to ideas and had a cheerful spirit. Through the way he explained things using diagrams, we understood the fundamentals of braking systems quite well.” And he often joked: “My friend… the most serious problem on the railway is not when a train cannot start, but when it can no longer stop.”

By naming our locomotive after him, we pay tribute to his remarkable contributions to Romanian railway engineering. Every journey our locomotive makes is a living tribute to his legacy, carrying forward the spirit of innovation and dedication that defined his life's work.
