Our Story

From a small family business to a key player in rail logistics, our journey spans over three decades of dedication, growth, and transformation. Here are the milestones that have shaped who we are today.

1994

Unicom Tranzit is founded as a family-owned freight forwarding company, marking the beginning of our journey in rail logistics.

1998

We establish our first headquarters at 63 Nicolae Caramfil Street, in our very own office building—an early sign of our commitment to long-term development.

1998

Unifertrans is founded, becoming the second private railway operator in Romania—further strengthening our role in the rail freight sector.

1999

We open our first rail terminal in Halmeu, enhancing our cross-border logistics capabilities.

2003

Operations begin at our second terminal in Dornești, expanding our national network.

2009

We launch our railcar repair workshop in Fetești, Ialomița, ensuring high standards of maintenance and operational reliability.

2013

Unifertrans merges with Unicom Tranzit, unifying our strengths under one name and vision.

2015

We move into our new, modern headquarters on 1A Pipera Boulevard—a reflection of our growth and ambition.

2020

Unicom Tranzit becomes the first company in Romania to acquire Siemens Smartron locomotives, embracing cutting-edge rail technology.

2021

Our rolling stock maintenance operations are transferred to our dedicated subsidiary, RVS, allowing for focused expertise and growth.

2022

We launch operations at the Teiuș International Intermodal Terminal, a major step forward in multimodal freight transport.

2023

At the Dornești terminal, we expand with new loading fronts for petroleum products, grains, bulk goods, and containers—meeting growing customer needs.

2024

After three years of dedicated work, our subsidiary RVS obtains VPI certification, confirming our commitment to European maintenance standards.
We begin a comprehensive rebranding and digitalization process, reinforcing our commitment to innovation and positioning ourselves for the future of rail freight transport.
